Edward J. Bannon Jr.

Edward J. Bannon Jr., 66, fell to rest on March 22, 2018 quietly at home.

He was the only child of the late Edward J. Bannon, Sr. and Frances J. (Sullivan) Bannon. He grew up with a street-smart band of hooligans in Smith Hill, Providence. Ed was a Lieutenant at the Adult Correctional Facility in Cranston for almost 20 years, and spent many years holding office in the RIBCO union. He was also employed as a Stagehand working with the Local 23 ASTW. My dad could entertain you for hours with stories of his youthful shenanigans, or tales from the “inside the walls” of the prison. He had a way with words and wrote letters every year at Christmas.

He leaves behind his cherished children, Allison Laura and Bryan Edward Bannon, his long time beloved companion Patricia (Flynn) Silva and the supporting, loving extended family of his ex-wife, Laura (Martin) Hodge.

He was a big character who made some big impacts and liked to regard himself as “better to be a has-been” than a “never was”.

A visitation will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick.

In lieu of flowers, donations to House of Hope, 3188 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02886 will be appreciated. Information and condolences visit, TheQuinnFuneralHome.com
