Douglas A. Matarese, 71, of Warwick died unexpectedly on Friday, January 1st 2021.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Frank “Paul” Matarese and Monica

(Sylvia) Matarese.

He was a proud Army veteran who served in Vietnam. Earlier in life he worked in sales at DiZoglio & Son Paper and IBM. He had a long career in the restaurant industry working at the Greenwood Inn in Warwick and most recently as a bartender for 28 years at the Crow’s Nest restaurant in Warwick. He loved meeting people and was a fixture behind the bar there. Recently retired, he enjoyed going to the beach, playing golf with friends and watching football, especially the Steelers. He was also a diehard Yankees fan. He loved spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren.

He was the proud father of Alison Matarese and her partner, Siobhan Connelly of Nashville, TN and Megan (Matarese) Vincent and her husband Tom of Richmond. His three grandchildren, Alex, Tenley and Olivia Vincent were the light of his life. He is survived by his three sisters, Paula Matarese of Jupiter, FL, Barbara (Matarese) Corcoran of Warwick and Dale Matarese of Chepachet. He leaves behind a niece and many nephews.

Private burial with military honors will be at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery,

Exeter.
