Dorothy Ali Thoreson, 90, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Thoreson. Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Shevket and Katherine (Miller) Ali.
It was her family that had the most significant place in Dorothy’s kind heart. Dorothy was a loving wife and mother and a wonderful best friend to both of her daughters. Dorothy valued manners, culture and white gloves. Her family and friends appreciated her style. Dorothy was a woman of principle. Honesty was very important to her, as was, friendship. Dorothy had devoted friends of more than 80 years. Ms. Thoreson was a fine artist and created wonderful sculptures, paintings and photographs. She had an amazing ability with colors, wrapping that special gift with great imagination. Dorothy was talented in interior design, sewing, gourmet cooking and planning a party. Her interests were varied and included foreign films, reading, history, travel, politics, voting, women’s rights, current events, biking to yard sales and swimming. Always curious, she loved the library. Dorothy cared about others and her community and throughout her life helped people in need. Dorothy will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
She was the cherished mother of Claudia Clouse and her husband, Robert, and Norah Thoreson-Bolongna and her husband, Joseph. Dorothy was the sister of the late David and Bob Ali.
Her funeral service and burial will be private.
