Doris E. “Dottie” Ayotte

Doris E. “Dottie” Ayotte, formerly of New London Avenue, Cranston, died on October 15, 2017 at Hopkins Manor in North Providence. She was the widow of Ernest R. J. Ayotte. They had been married for 70 years at the time of his death in February 2013.

Born in Cranston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Giammatteo and the late G. Irene (Allamby) Major. Dottie had lived in New Jersey for 53 years before moving back to Cranston. She was an accounts payroll supervisor for Plessy Dynamics, retiring after 22 years. She was Past President of the Home Owners Association of Garden of Pleasant Plain, New Jersey and a member of St. Andrew’s Church in New Jersey and the Church of the Ascension in Cranston. She belonged to the Red Hat Society in Warwick and the Monday Morning Glories in Cranston. Dottie enjoyed traveling to Arkansas, Florida and New Jersey to visit friends and family.

She is survived by her foster son, Russell Case of Largo, Florida, her daughter-in-law, Debbie Ayotte of Oldsmar, Florida, her grandsons: Derek, Ryan and Greg, her sister of Barbara Biles of New Jersey, her nieces, nephews and everyone who called her Auntie Dot. She was the mother of the late Raymond J. Ayotte, and sister of the late Ruth Szielwack, Clair Rice, and John Major.

A Funeral Service will be held on November 4 at 12:00 p.m. in Church of the Ascension, 390 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston. Private burial will be held at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
