Donald Sidney Gothberg, 88, of Warwick, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at home surrounded by his devoted family. He was the beloved husband of Clarice Joan (Barth) Gothberg.

Born in Spokane, Washington, he was the son of the late Carl Oscar Gothberg and Maude Victoria (Osterback) Gothberg. Donald was employed as an Inspector at the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics in Groton, CT. During the Korean War, he honorably served in the United States Air Force. Donald was a Scoutmaster at Hillsgrove Boy Scouts of America, Troop #2. He was a President and a Coach at the West Side Little League and a Founder of the Rhode Island Chapter of Northeast Bassmasters. Donald was also a Counselor and a Director at Camp Aldersgate in Glocester where he served as a mentor since 1960. Donald was a Trustee at Hillsgrove United Methodist Church and a Spiritual Leader of the Open Table of Christ United Methodist Church in Providence. He was also a member of the Emmaus Bible Group, a volunteer at R.S.V.P. and an outdoorsman and a fisherman. Donald also enjoyed photography and nature. Donald was a devoted husband, a caring and patient father and a generous, loving and faithful friend.

In addition to his beloved wife, Donald is survived by his loving children: Steven D. Gothberg (Louise) of Warwick, Ronald E. Gothberg (Edna) of Wakefield, John A. Gothberg (Sharon) of Coventry, James G. Gothberg of Wakefield, Connie J. Mason of Barrington, Paul A. Gothberg (Cheryl) of North Smithfield and Carl W. Gothberg (Tracy) of Warwick; eighteen cherished grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Open Table of Christ United Methodist Church, 1520 Broad Street, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
