Discouraging attendance

To the Editor:

I am disappointed that the Warwick School Committee is deciding to have a special meeting this Thursday at 7:15 in the morning. It is impossible for many parents, teachers, students and members of the public to attend a 7:15 a.m. meeting on a weekday. There is no necessity to have a meeting so early in the morning as opposed to in the evening, which is when most School Committee meetings take place, and a time when more people can attend.

Without any publicly disclosed reason for a need to have this meeting in the morning, it appears that the School Committee is trying to discourage the public from attending.

You have to be kidding. The reason the meeting was called in the morning was to prevent you and the Backus cult from screaming, yelling etc. and showing total disrespect to the general public.

You should be ashamed of your behavior during the school committee meetings....it was disgraceful.

Learn some manners and then the school committee could hold a meeting for the general public.

Although I feel that Nathan Cornell's opinion is insignificant since he is not a taxpayer, I will enlighten him to some reality. When any person attends a school committee meeting and they go to speak, if they are not in 100% support of the union position, they get mocked, yelled at, and disrupted. However, if you interrupt someone in favor of the union position, you are also mocked and interrupted. So it appears that only the union membership is privy to our First Amendment.

The conduct of the teachers at these committee meetings is not only an embarrassment , but yet another indicator to parents to remove your children from these substandard buildings and curriculum's, and put them in private schools. I still wonder where all of the math teachers are. Lets put them in a room and give them the budget documents and the breakdown of Warwick's unfunded liabilities that are approximately 1 billion dollars. See if they can derive a formula and excuse to render to the next generation (their students) that they profess to care about so much!!

Thankfully, both sides came to a tentative agreement prior to the meeting in question. However, one only needs to read between the lines to see that they were trying to get everyone focused on a resolution and minimize the distractions. I have attended many meetings over the years. Thecaptain is 100% correct on his observation of what happens during these meetings. I can't believe professionals and adults behave like rowdy frat boys at the first party of the year! It is appalling and totally counterproductive. Maybe we have finally come to a place where cooler heads prevail and people take pride in being polite and professional. One can only hope.

    Dear Reality, AKA Roger Durant,

I have never screamed or yelled at any of the many School Committee (SC) meetings I have attended, although I have never seen you at any of them. I did take the microphone once after I proved that the SC lied about the Ragosta report saying "It is all verbal!" "There is no written report!" I emphatically told them that they lied and to "Get out". "Move out of Warwick" If that is what you are referring to I have 2 questions for you. Do you think it was wrong for them (except Bachus) to lie about the report being written? Do you feel that they acted appropriately about Mario Atoyan"s actions as described in the Ragosta Report?

For the record, if I had known about the meeting, I would have attended. You must admit, it was scheduled without much (if any) notice.

    Happy Autumn everyone.

    Hey Richard,

I never said you yelled at a school committee meeting....I was referring to Cornell and the Backus cult.

I do wish you would answer Rob's info regarding not paying your taxes....that very fact disqualifies you from making any comments regarding any contracts because you don't have to pay for them.

I haven't commented on that for months but you have now made it far game

Never leveled criticism of Warwick School Committee

    Posted Thursday, October 8, 2015 10:52 am

Editor’s note: The following remarks from attorney Vincent Ragosta in response to a Sept. 29 letter from Democratic mayoral candidate Richard Corrente were forwarded for publication by Jennifer Ahearn, chair of the Warwick School Committee.

    To the Editor:

Last evening I conferred with School Committee Chairwoman Jennifer Ahearn about the commentary of Richard Corrente in his published open letter to her. As any good citizen should be, Mr. Corrente is understandably concerned about the deeply disturbing allegations of mistreatment of students and parents, which underlie my investigation. Permit me to succinctly clarify and contextualize the substance of the brief conversation with Mr. Corrente and set the record straight.

First, I confirmed much of what had long since been in the public domain, e.g. that I was engaged by the Warwick School Committee (WSC) to independently investigate and assess the school department central administration’s handling of allegations related to two young female students and teacher Mario Atoyan. Second, I confirmed for Mr. Corrente that my law firm completed its investigative process within the time constraints set by the WSC, and that I verbally reported my blunt and unvarnished findings to the WSC by May 21 of this year. Third, in response to Mr. Corrente’s inquiry as to the existence of a written report, I informed him that the reporting was conveyed verbally in two meetings with the WSC, one on May 11 and the other on May 21, both of which were recorded by Allied Court Reporters, which in turn produced written transcripts.

At no time in my conversation with Mr. Corrente did I level any criticism of the WSC, nor was any confidential or privileged information revealed to him. To the extent that is inferred from Mr. Corrente’s, letter, this communication should serve to disabuse all of any such notions. In fact, I applauded the aggressive and proactive approach of the WSC and Chairperson Ahearn in pushing for an inquiry into Atoyan’s in-school misconduct predating his arrest on unrelated sexual assault charges. Throughout my firm’s inquiry, I had the full, unfettered and timely cooperation of Chairperson Ahearn, as well as all other WSC members. Each of them demonstrated a genuine resolve to seek the truth about Atoyan’s actions and, the central administration’s responses.

In sum, any quotations attributed to me which are suggestive of criticism of the WSC are simply untrue.

    Vincent F. Ragosta, Jr., Esq.

Just more documentation that the fake mayor has delusions.

    Bob_Cushman

Mr. Corrente you have some explaining to do based on what you previous wrote quoting Attorney Ragosta as saying, and now getting his explanation of your conversation with him. Here is an excerpt below from your letter. This episode calls into question your honesty and credibility as a candidate for political office.

[In my 28-minute long conversation with Attorney Ragosta he said to me, “The School Department absolutely has a typed report!” “I was outraged at how dismissive they responded!” He also stated “People should be screaming from the rooftops about how badly this was handled!” He then went on to repeat some of his discussion with Superintendent D ’Agostino. He didn’t repeat any of the sensitive information but he did say “When I questioned him (D ’Agostino) about an e-mail he received from the mother of the 13 year old girl who had a teacher draw a penis on her arm, the superintendent said ‘I get 100 e-mails a day.’” I (Ragosta) said, “How many of them are about a penis drawn on the arm of a 13-year-old girl?” Ragosta said, “He was just so dismissive!” He also stated “I just wanted to slap him!”]

    Hello again Thecaptain:

This sorry episode -- one of many involving the fake "mayor" -- further sheds light on his recurring comments disparaging the school committee. After he wrongly interpreted Mr. Ragosta's comments as criticizing the school committee, when in fact he was referring to the prior school administrators, the fake "mayor" refused to admit his mistake and instead attacked the school board even more forcefully.

As Mr. Ragosta stated in his 2015 letter disproving the fake "mayor," at the time of the May, 2015 school committee meeting, the only reports he had provided to that point were verbal. The transcription had not yet been prepared or presented to the school committee.

True to his nature, once the fake "mayor" was proven wrong, he simply persisted in repeating the falsehood and refused to actually answer for it.

The most egregious issue with his actions in this case, though, is that he clearly did not read the Ragosta report and see the many examples where Mr. Ragosta specifically pointed to administrators dismissing or ignoring the problems with Atoyan -- not school committee members, administrators.

By confusing administrators with school committee members, the fake "mayor" proves yet again that he does not possess the slightest idea of how school departments work or the barest sense of personal shame when he intentionally lies to the honest, taxpaying voters of Warwick.

And then there was this comment from Richard in this article: http://warwickonline.com/stories/tentative-agreement-reached-time-to-rebuild,128752, that I really take offense to.

"As far as calling Jennifer Ahearn a liar, she is! She repeatedly said that the report was "all verbal". After I confirmed with Attorney Ragosta that 600 pages of a written deposition is NOT VERBAL, she wisely resigned".

Jennifer Ahearn never resigned from the school committee. She simply did not run for re-election and the continued attempt by Richard to disparage her credibility by claiming something that did not happen really reflects on his lack of credibility.

    Hello again Bob_Cushman:

Throw that example on the pile of falsehoods and imaginary impacts that the fake "mayor" has spouted on this website over the last three years. Were I not so familiar with his behavior, I would be surprised that he'd claim to have driven Ms. Ahearn from her position. As you correctly point out, she simply decided not to run for reelection.

But as we've seen, over and over again, there is apparently no depth of the shamelessness that the fake "mayor" willingly and repeatedly exhibits on this website. As I have often said -- and he has been relentless in proving -- he will continue to humiliate himself in his future comments.

    Dear Roger,

    Sincere apology.

Since your comment was right after mine I assumed you meant me.

As far as my taxes, they have always been paid, and anyone who says otherwise is lying.

Feel free to call Chris Celeste, the tax collector who works for my opponent, Scott Avedisian.

    Again, sorry about the mistake.

    Happy Autumn Roger.

    Happy Autumn everyone.

As you see yet again, Reality, the fake "mayor" refuses to offer any proof of his claims and instead calls others, who have repeatedly posted information supporting their statements on this site, liars.

The city online property database that shows his claimed residence to have been sold at tax sale in 2012, proving his tax delinquency. One of the parties listed as buyers of that property is the same individual to whom the fake "mayor" paid rent for his campaign office.

You may also recall the fake "mayor" claiming that his property valuations were somehow nefariously increased by the incumbent mayor. Not only was it discovered that his claim of a tripling in one property's valuation was objectively false, but it was found that he did not, in fact, pay taxes on his primary residence because it had been sold at tax sale.

These are not matters of opinion, nor are they lies. These are facts.

Thank you for joining the many readers of this site who see through the fake "mayor's" pathetic attempts to distract people from the truth about him.

    Dear Richard, (and readers)

You continually request that (we) contact the tax assessors office to check on the status of your car, so I did. In fact, as I have pointed out so many times, the tax assessor has no record of your car being on the registration roles or paying taxes in Warwick, for the period of 2013, 14, and 15.

In fact, as I pointed out numerous times, your 2016 taxes were paid delinquent, you did not owe 1 Penny as you claim, you missed the entire year's payments and paid them (only after being humiliated) on 3/24/17. You paid taxes and interest penalties. So, once again, you are caught in yet another lie. Your payment info below.

    Payment 3/24/2017 CORRENTE, RICHARD C $40.56

    Payment 3/24/2017 CORRENTE, RICHARD C $136.31

The question that I keep asking is where if anywhere, was your car registered in that time period because it certainly was not registered in Warwick.
