The Cranston Public Library will host a free author talk and book discussion on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 6-7 p.m. the at Central Library, 140 Sockanossett Cross Road, Cranston.

Author Dr. Michael Fine will give a talk and facilitate discussion of issues related to his book, “Health Care Revolt: How to Organize, Build a Health Care System, and Resuscitate Democracy – All at the Same Time.” This event is free and open to the public. Copies of the book will be available for sale.

“Health Care Revolt” looks around the world for examples of health care systems that are effective and affordable, envisions an efficient system for our nation, and creates a practical playbook for a health care revolution. “Are health and democracy inextricably linked?” is one of many questions raised.

Fine is a writer, community organizer, family physician and founder of the nonprofit Scituate Health Alliance.

The next author book event will be held on Sunday, March 3, from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Central Library. At this event, also free to the public, people can meet Jill Farinelli, author of “The Palatine Wreck: The Legend of the New England Ghost Ship.” This book explores the chilling and controversial legend of the Princess Augusta, which ran aground off the coast of Block Island in 1738. Through this talk by Farinelli, learn about the history of the passengers’ lives, the ship, and the circumstances behind the legend. Copies of the book will be for sale.

Farinelli has worked as a freelance writer and editor for the past 25 years, primarily in educational publishing.
