Catherine G. (Docherty) Mitchell, age 84, of Lewiston Street, Warwick, passed away at home on Sunday, October 28, 2018.

Born in Scotland, a daughter of the late Hughie and Annie (Gorman) Docherty, she lived in Warwick since 1958. Mrs. Mitchell was an active parishioner at St. Kevin Church in Warwick, were she had taught CCD, served as a greeter, a eucharistic minister, and a volunteer in SPRED program. She often assisted the elderly and children of the parish. Over the years, she had been employed at Bulova Watch Co., the Kent County YMCA, and the Warwick Country Club.

She is survived by four daughters and a son, Linda A. Simmons, Catherine M. Albertson, Colleen M. Mitchell of Warwick, Daniel J. Mitchell, and Kerry A. Mitchell, all of Warwick; two sisters, Sally Harper of Liverpool, England and Nancy Plunkett in Australia and two brothers, Alfie Docherty of Manchester, England and Malcom Docherty of Liverpool England; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and her extended family, Diane Tomassi of Warwick and Paul Erickson of South Carolina. She was the mother of the late Thomas P. Mitchell, Mary C. Braman, and Joseph P. Mitchell, and the sister of the late Huey, Alan, and Jeanette Docherty.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, November 5, at 8:30 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
