Sam’s Inn, with the tables and guests appropriately spaced, was the site for the 90th birthday party for Beverlee Sturdahl hosted by the St. Rita’s Women’s Club. Beverlee has long been active in Oakland Beach, serving as a member and president of the JONAH (Join Our Neighborhood And Help) board. She has worked on numerous church fundraisers including the scholarship fund, cabaret and festivals. “Beverlee has always been there to prepare Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas baskets and toys for children,” Ward 6 Councilwoman Donna Travis said in reading a resolution of congratulations signed by the council and mayor. Beverlee remains active in the community. She is a member of the Oakland Beach Association and the Zoning Board of Review. Before retirement she worked for the Department of Public Works and the Warwick Public Library and has served on the Retirement Board. Here, Travis presents Beverlee with the resolution.
