The Bishop Hendricken baseball program will provide a unique opportunity for up to 50 youth players in grades four through eight at the first-ever Green & Gold Pro Clinic, slated for Saturday, Nov. 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hendricken’s indoor facilities.

Five former Hendricken standouts with professional baseball experience will be on hand to provide instruction to the group of attendees. The instructors will be Thomas Pannone, Evan Marzilli, Jeff Roy, Reed Gamache and Mike King.

Pannone was a two-way standout as a centerfielder and pitcher at Hendricken. He was a member of two state championship teams and was the MVP of the 2012 state tournament. During his senior year, the Chicago Cubs chose him in the 33rd round of the 2012 MLB Draft as an outfielder. Opting not to sign and to forgo his commitment to the University of Miami, Pannone attended the College of Southern Nevada, where he played a season before being taken in the ninth round of the 2013 draft by the Cleveland Indians as a left-handed pitcher. He spent four seasons with the Indians, reaching as high as AA before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in 2017 for big-league reliever Joe Smith. Pannone has been named an all-star in each of the past two seasons and recently wrapped up a tremendous season, which included a 35-plus innings scoreless streak and a spot on the cover of New England Baseball Journal.

Evan Marzilli is a 2009 graduate of Hendricken, where he was a three-time All-Stater and a member of three state championship teams. Following high school, he attended college baseball powerhouse, the University of South Carolina. In each of his three seasons playing for the Gamecocks, he played in three College World Series finals, including winning two national titles. In the 2012 MLB Draft, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected him in the eighth round. He remains with the Diamondbacks organization, where he has been rated their best defensive outfield prospect the last three seasons. He recently wrapped up his sixth season of professional baseball with AAA Reno.

Jeff Roy was a two-time All-Stater and member of two state championship teams at Bishop Hendricken. Following high school, he continued his career at the University of Rhode Island, where he was a star for three seasons, including being named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year in 2012. During his junior season, the Pittsburgh Pirates selected him in the 18th round of the 2013 MLB Draft. Roy spent four seasons in the minor leagues with Pittsburgh, including appearing in Major League spring training games. He recently accepted a job as a coach at his alma mater, URI.

Gamache followed in his brother Dan’s (Washington Nationals) footsteps by starring at Hendricken while helping to lead the Hawks to a pair of state titles. The infielder accepted a scholarship to Binghamton University, where he was a four-year standout for the Bearcats. He was named First Team All-Conference, All-ECAC and All-Region while helping to lead the team to the 2016 America East championship game. Following his senior season, Gamache signed a free agent contract with the New York Mets, where he has spent the last two seasons playing in their minor league system.

King was named a Louisville All-American and the 2013 Gatorade Player of the Year. A star at the plate and on the mound, he helped lead Hendricken to two state titles. Upon graduation, he continued his career at Boston College. King was a member of the starting rotation in all three seasons that he played with the Eagles. During his junior season, the Miami Marlins selected King in the 12th round of the 2016 MLB Draft. King has enjoyed a great deal of success in his two professional seasons. He finished the 2017 season with Class-A Greensboro.
