To the Editor:
For years, so many of us had taken Benny’s for granted.
Who would have thought our favorite store would not be around forever? Benny’s, you gave us no warning. We were shocked, blindsided. What would happen to us? Where would we shop now? Your departure has created a hole we cannot fill.
We shopped you for nuts, bolts, screws that you couldn’t find anywhere else. Toasters, coffee pots, gifts, toys, food, rugs, keys, pool supplies, clothes, gloves, ice scrapers, fishing licenses, fishing rods, tackle boxes, lures, grills, outdoor fire pits and so much more. Benny’s, you had it all!
Now we wander around aimlessly from store to store, trying to find all the quirky little things you had under one roof, and never finding what we really want. Benny’s, look what you have done to us! You were our go-to store. Many of us would take a ride on a Sunday night just to kill time and wound up walking out with so many things we couldn’t live without.
None of us will forget the Christmas decorations with all the animated characters, the Noel singers, the jolly old Santas and the sleighs; oh, the beautiful sleighs and what about the trees? So many beautiful trees to pick from – some plain, some decorated. You had it all.
Let me also reminisce about the Christmas lights and replacement bulbs that you couldn’t find anywhere else. Once again, Benny’s, you had it all! The Christmas season for many of us didn’t start until your flyer came out and we couldn’t wait to rush to the store to always find the right toys, gifts and more. Generation after generation bought their first bike, first sled, first scooter, tires, any paint color and brush size for any project we had. Oh Benny’s, why did you leave us? We were loyal patrons. If only you had asked us, we would have spent more money to keep you around! We are so sorry we let you down. If only we had known.
We are hoping you hear our plea and maybe consider opening one, just one, store centrally located and we promise we will come from near and far to support you to the end. Benny’s, hear our plea! Please come back to us! This can’t be the end! Christmas is coming!
