Arthur Frederick Chapman Sr., 75, formerly of Warwick, RI, died Tuesday, July 3rd.

Arthur was the son of the late Frederick and Olive Jerane Chapman. He served as a Private First Class in the United States Army, was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and received an Honorable Discharge in 1962. He worked as a Master Pipefitter and Electrician and continued to help his family and friends with projects even after his retirement from the Warwick School Department. He was devoted to his friends and brothers in the Masonic Fraternity and they were such a central part of his life. His affiliations included Harmony Lodge #9 – Past Master; Scottish Rite, Valley of Providence – Past Commander in Chief, 33°; Red Cross of Constantine – Intendant General; Allied Masonic Degree Renaissance Council #429 – Past Senior Deacon; York Rite Sovereign College What Cheer; Knight Masons Colonial Council; DeMolay – Past Chapter Dad Advisor and DeMolay International member; Harmony Royal Arch Chapter #15 – Past High Priest and Past Rite Excellent Grand Marshall; Providence Royal Arch Chapter #1; Doric Council #7 – Past Thrice Illustrious Master; York Rite Providence Council #1; St. John’s Commandery #1 – Trustee; Rhode Island Shriners – Past Head of the Knights of Mecca; and the Royal Order of Jesters – Past Director and Past Director of the Book of the Play.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 55 years, Norma Jean Chapman and their daughter, Cindy Lou Chapman and her husband Ronald Olsen, their son, Arthur F. Chapman Jr., their daughter, Lori Berry; and his sister, Patricia Shehan and her husband Jared Shehan. He was a beloved "Papa" to his grandchildren: Abby, Emily and Ryan Berry and he loved his special time with them - teaching Abby and Emily to drive when they turned sixteen and playing video games with Ryan and going with him on Boy Scout activities and campouts. He also was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is loved and will be missed dearly by friends and family.
