Appreciating our local businesses

To the Editor:

This past weekend was Small Business Saturday. It’s great that we have a dedicated day to show our appreciation for our neighborhood businesses. Local businesses are an economic driver for our community. They employ our neighbors, family, and friends, and they serve as the backbone of our local economy.

Aiming to strengthen the business environment in Warwick, the City Council passed legislation resulting in updates to the contact list of local vendors. We’ve been working with the City’s Purchasing Department to utilize online databases to identify additional local companies with the hopes that even more Warwick businesses will bid on City contracts.

Boasting coastal amenities and a strong affordable housing market, Warwick remains an attractive place for businesses to expand, relocate, or host a startup. With direct access to the airport, the rail station, and the highway, City Centre Warwick offers a unique opportunity for business development. The location is prime for commercial, office, and hospitality ventures.

Our restaurants, retail stores, service providers, manufactures, and other small businesses are an essential part of our vibrant community. Let’s show how much we appreciate our local businesses by supporting them not just on Small Business Saturday, but throughout this holiday season and beyond.
