To Elected Officials:

One month ago I sent a letter to the Warwick Mayor's Office, the City Council members, and the members of the Warwick Sewer Authority. I am sending it out to you again because only 2 of those 16 addressees responded to it. My letter was designed to tell you how the installation of sewers in my neighborhood puts a serious burden on my wife and me. I tried to make it as clear as possible, finally asking for your response.

Let me reiterate that I am disabled and unable to work to earn money anymore, my wife is also too sick to work, so we are left to live on a fixed income which has been possible until the WSA will be demanding $20,000 for the sewer work, an additional $5000 for paving, which we have already paid for through our taxes, and the approximate $2000 cost for our hook up.

My letter offered a couple of options to the City so that we might stay in our home and avoid selling it, but only two people bothered to respond.

You are my government and I make possible your paycheck. You are elected by the people, but you seem uninterested in responding to constituent concerns. I am petitioning my government for redress of my grievance, as guaranteed by my Constitution's First Amendment, but you haven't taken the time to acknowledge me and my problem. What is left for me to do? I'm too sick and too old to carry a picket sign or march in protest so I must resort to the mail, but even that seems not to be working. How shall I get your attention?

Would you please simply acknowledge that you are interested in my plight and provide some insight into how I might think about resolving it?

Anyone know of any programs this gentleman might be able to apply for? Most Older Seniors do not use the internet and its extremely difficult for them to find assistance,,,,
