Alice K. Pellegrino

Alice K. Pellegrino, 87, of Ft. Myers, FL and formerly of Warwick, RI passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017. She was born January 1, 1930 in Binghamton, NY.

She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Merle (Whitaker) Kays. Alice attended the New York State University at Potsdam, NY earning both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in music education. Alice taught public school music in Rochester, NY and Greenwich, CT and later became a professor at the Rhode Island College at the Henry Barnard School as a model teacher for music education majors at Rhode Island College. She was also a member of the Voice faculty at the Department of Music at Rhode Island College in Providence, RI. As an alto soloist, she sang in churches in Potsdam, NY, Greenwich, CT, White Plains, NY and Providence, RI. Alice also sang in the Robert Shaw Choral, the Collegiate Singers of New York, the Peloquin Choral of Providence, RI and other professional organizations. As her last commitment to church music, Alice became a member of the choir at her own church, St. Luke Episcopal Church in East Greenwich, RI. After retirement, Alice became a docent at the Rhode Island School of Design.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, John Pellegrino; daughter, Lisa M. Conway and her husband, Kevin of Greene, RI; son, John M. Pellegrino of Columbus, OH and her grandson, Ian Conway of Greene, RI. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends.
