Alice Cecilia Devine Carney, age 61, a lifelong Democrat, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, October 20, 2017.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Crystal (Clukey) Carney of Warwick and the late John P. Carney Sr. of Florida. She also dearly loved her two dogs, Hooke and Hannibal, her bats and astronomy. Alice worked in the security industry, first at Sonitrol Security of Providence and later at ADT Security Services. She also worked for Pulte Homes.
Affectionately known as 'Auntie', her absolute joy and delight in life were her beloved nieces and nephews and she is survived by: Vanessa Oakes of East Greenwich, Veronica Oakes of North Kingstown and their mother Michelle Santamaria of Coventry; Nicholas and Amy Carney and their parents Jack and Dianne Carney of West Warwick; Chelsea, Matthew and Emilee Carney and their parents Michael and Beverly Carney of Warwick; Patrick Carney of East Greenwich and her great-niece Jaelyn Mae Holmes, daughter of Vanessa Oakes and Ryan Holmes; her two stepsisters, Stephanie Salvatori and her son Joey, and Alexandra Ek and her two children, Cameron and Lauren.
There will be a celebration of life on November 19th from 1-4 p.m. at Richard's Pub in East Greenwich, RI.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Alice's name to the American Cancer Society or Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Rhode Island will be greatly appreciated by the family.
