AA survey finds $2.62 low gas price

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down one cent this week, according to AAA Northeast.

AAA’s July 22 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.74 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is two cents lower than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.76. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was thirteen cents higher at $2.87.

“Gasoline stocks remain robust amid a recent dip in demand, which could be one reason we are seeing pump prices stable or starting to roll back,” said Diana Imondi, AAA Northeast Manager of Public Affairs & Traffic Safety. “It is too soon to know if this is a long-term trend, but it is certainly a welcome relief for motorists.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 37 cents, from a low of $2.62 to a high of $2.99.
