Last Thursday evening, Aug. 9, Robert Menezes, age 24 of Warwick, was arrested at a traffic stop for arrest warrants obtained for Delivery of Fentanyl charges.
This investigation was initiated by neighborhood complaints and community tips concerning suspicious activity at his residence on Asylum Road in Warwick. This information was forwarded from the Patrol Division to the Detective Division whose Special Operations Group followed up. After a lengthy investigation of several months by Warwick narcotics officers they were able to obtain the arrest warrants.
Contemporaneous with the arrest Warwick police executed a search warrant at Menezes’ home address of 162 Asylum Rd., in Warwick. Numerous items were seized during this search related to narcotics trafficking including a loaded Ruger 9mm handgun, two boxes of 9mm ammunition, three digital scales, a vacuum sealer with plastic bags and $100,000 in U.S. currency. Various narcotics were also seized which included suspected Fentanyl (45.9 grams), 53 Oxycodone pills, two Fentanyl patches and marijuana (31.9 grams). All items of evidence were seized from Menezes’ bedroom.
As a result of the investigation Menezes was arraigned today at Kent County District courthouse and held without bail on the following charges:
